Alentejo Offroad School (Alentejo Off-Road School, escola de pilotagem off-road) is an off-road motorbike school in Montemor-o-Novo, in the Évora district. It describes itself as dedicated to teaching safe and responsible riding of two-wheeled vehicles, and it runs classes for children as well as adults.
The school’s own shorthand for what it teaches is four words: trails, mud, sand, rocks. Its courses are about riding in rough conditions, and for a child who has been watching enduro or motocross videos, learning to keep a bike upright on sand and mud is the real appeal. The school is set in the open Alentejo countryside rather than on a closed stadium track.

Small in Portugal confirmed with the school in September 2026 that it runs classes for children. The website does not publish ages, prices, lesson lengths, or whether parents stay during a class, so ask all of these when you get in touch. Useful questions to ask:
- What is the youngest age you teach, and does my child need to ride a bicycle confidently first?
- Do you provide the motorbike and safety kit, or do we bring our own?
- How long is a lesson, and can a parent watch?
- Is insurance included?
The website says its courses suit both beginners and experienced riders who want to improve their technique on and off the road.

Rides and events
As well as courses, the school runs guided rides (passeios) through the Alentejo landscape and organises off-road events. Its 2026 calendar listed one date a month for most of the year: 25 January, 8 February, 1 March, 5 April, 3 May, 7 June, 13 September, 4 October, 1 November and 6 December. The website doesn’t say what each event involves or whether children can take part, so ask. The remaining 2026 dates when checked were 4 October, 1 November and 6 December.
The school also sells its own clothing, from a €17.22 cap or T-shirt to a €60.27 softshell jacket, if your child wants the team look.

Off-road riding is outdoors and dirty by design. Bring a full change of clothes, and in summer plan for heat: the Alentejo inland gets very hot, so an early-morning class will be more comfortable.

Making a day of it
Montemor-o-Novo is on the road between Lisbon and Évora. The Cromeleque dos Almendres, a stone circle older than Stonehenge, is on the way to Évora, where the Capela dos Ossos, the chapel of bones, fascinates older children.
