Aqualand Algarve

Aqualand Algarve is on the EN125 at Sítio das Areias, Alcantarilha, in the municipality of Silves, a short drive from Armação de Pêra and Albufeira. It’s one of the Aspro parks, as its park rules and contact email show. It’s an outdoor park that opens only in summer: when we checked its website at the end of September 2026, it said the park was closed for the season, thanked visitors and promised to be back in 2027, with tickets “coming soon”.

The mix is similar to the Algarve’s other water parks: a children’s pool, a wave pool, a big swimming pool, a lazy river and a set of slides graded by height. What stands out for families is the pricing. Children go free up to age 4, and the child rate covers ages 5 to 10.

The Paraíso Infantil is the children’s pool, for children up to 8. The park describes it as a pool full of castles with several slide lanes, fountains and animal figures, and it has no height limit.

Families with little ones can also use:

• The wave pool, set up like a beach, so small children can sit at the shallow edge while waves roll in. No height limit.
• The Piscina Semi-Olímpica, a very large swimming pool with no height limit, for children who can swim or are with an adult.
• The Rio Lento, a lazy river 270 metres long that you float round on a tube.

The FAQ says all ages are welcome and the park is accessible with buggies.

Aqualand grades its slides by minimum height:

• 1.10 metres: Tapetes Voadores (two renewed lanes you ride on a mat), Pistas Brandas (side-by-side racing slides), Rápidos (a tube ride over a series of steps and drops), Hydra (three different tube slides) and Salto Louco, an almost vertical drop into a pool 3 metres deep.
• 1.40 metres: King Cobra, Kamikaze and Banzai.

King Cobra is the park’s signature ride. You start almost 25 metres up (the park gives 25.5 metres), alone or in a double tube, and twist through the snake’s body in and out of light and dark. Near the end comes a 40% drop that shoots you out through the cobra’s open mouth and fangs. The park says it’s made of 315 pieces fitted together like a puzzle, which is a fact children tend to like.

Kamikaze is 36 metres high and 92 metres long, and the park calls it the tallest slide in the Algarve; two lanes let you race. Banzai is 23 metres high and ridden on a board, trying to surf the length of the pool at the bottom.

Once a child reaches 1.10 metres, most of the park opens up; the three tallest slides are for older children and teenagers.

Aqualand’s age bands are adults from 11, children aged 5 to 10 and seniors from 65. Children from 0 to 4 get in free. When checked in September 2026 the gate prices were €32 for adults and €23 for children and seniors, and online promotions started from €17, with the park advertising savings of up to €15 per ticket online.

The FAQ says all sales are final: tickets can’t be refunded, exchanged or changed. You don’t need to print them, as they’re scanned at the entrance. There’s no refund once you’re inside, even if weather closes rides or the park. A Fast Pass is listed among the services, and group bookings (birthdays, schools) go through the park’s groups form.

Aqualand’s own pages give slightly different dates, so treat these as a guide. The attractions page says the park opens on 8 June, from 10:00 to 17:00 in June and 10:00 to 18:00 in July, August and September. The FAQ gives 10:00 to 17:00 from 9 to 30 June and 10:00 to 18:00 from 1 July to 12 September. Either way, this is a park for June to mid-September, and the new season’s dates will be on the website before it opens.

There’s a restaurant, a pizzeria and kiosks around the park. Picnics are allowed only in the areas set aside for them. The park rules don’t allow you to bring in parasols, chairs, glass containers, balls or animals. Parasols are provided free, and you can rent sun loungers, which may only be used in their marked areas. Lockers and a photo service are also available, and there’s a shop.

• Under-16s must be with an adult. That’s older than the Algarve’s other water parks, where 12-year-olds can go in alone.
• Only swimwear on the rides, with no metal parts, zips or accessories.
• No bags, phones or GoPro-style cameras on the rides. Chest or head mounts may be allowed, but the lifeguard at each ride decides.
• Guide dogs are allowed; pets aren’t.

The park is on the EN125 near Alcantarilha. Parking is free and covered, which helps on hot days. The park’s pages don’t give public transport details.

This is an outdoor park in the Algarve summer: bring hats, sun cream and something for hot feet on the paths. With free entry to age 4 and children’s tickets to 10, its children’s gate price was the lowest of the Algarve’s three big water parks when we checked, but check the season is open before you promise anyone a visit.

Sand City and Slide & Splash are both in the Lagoa area to the west. Silves, the municipality’s main town, has Silves Castle and the year-round Silves municipal pools for an indoor swim out of season. Aquashow near Quarteira adds an indoor water park for the cooler months.

Is Aqualand open now?

Not when checked on 28 September 2026: the website said the park was closed and would be back in 2027. It opens in June and closes in mid-September.

Do toddlers go free at Aqualand?

Yes. Children aged 0 to 4 get in free. The child ticket covers ages 5 to 10.

Is Aqualand good for small children?

Yes. The Paraíso Infantil pool is for children up to 8, with castles, slides, fountains and animal figures, and the wave pool and lazy river have no height limit.

Can my 13-year-old go to Aqualand alone?

No. Aqualand’s minimum age to enter alone is 16; under-16s must be with an adult.

Can you take food to Aqualand?

Picnics are only allowed in the designated picnic areas, and glass isn’t allowed. There’s a restaurant, pizzeria and kiosks.
