Funpark

Funpark is a kartódromo (karting track) and adventure park in Boleiros, on the edge of Fátima. A lot of its business is company team-building days, but it also has a family programme. For a child who loves engines, the draw is the electric quads (moto 4): small four-wheeled motorbikes that children from five ride by themselves on their own circuit.

The park map lists twelve areas: the inflatable, bumper cars, the restaurant, the main kart track, the tree-top course, paintball, a children’s kart track, party rooms, a dirt track, meeting rooms, the electric quads and a games room. Families can mix several activities in one visit, which suits brothers and sisters of different ages.

There are five small electric quads on a circuit of their own, with a smooth surface and a simple layout of wide bends. Funpark says the quads accelerate gently so beginners can build confidence, and staff watch the riders throughout.

• Every rider gets a safety briefing first and wears an approved helmet.
• The price was €6 for 5 minutes and €10 for 10 minutes when checked in September 2026.

Five minutes is a sensible first try for a young child steering alone; you can always pay for another go.

Funpark has more than 60 karts: 46 with 270cc engines, 5 with 200cc engines, 3 two-seater karts and 8 children’s karts with 120cc engines. The children’s karts have their own track, marked separately on the park map. The family page gives a minimum age of six for kart rental. The karting page doesn’t list prices, so phone for them.

Every rental starts with a safety briefing on the track rules, how to drive the kart and what to do in an emergency. Group races finish with a podium ceremony and photos.

• Bumper cars (carros de choque) start at age three, which makes them the one engine-free ride a toddler can join. The page gives a minimum of four people. There is also a football version called Fut Choque.
• The inflatable is a giant obstacle course 30 metres long, 15 metres wide and 5 metres high, with slides, climbing walls, a spinning mechanical arm, a Velcro wall, tunnels, ramps and jump zones. It is for ages four and up, and under-sevens must have an adult with them. In August it opens daily from 10:00 to 12:00 and 16:30 to midnight; in other months it is by reservation for at least ten people. Toilets are nearby.
• The tree-top course (arvorismo) is for ages five and up, with a minimum of three people. It runs at an average of 3.6 metres above the ground, with suspended bridges, moving logs, slanted ropes and slides. Everyone wears a certified helmet and harness, monitors supervise, and you need to book.

Paintball is for ages 16 and up only, in groups of at least ten, booked a day ahead.

The restaurant and snack bar has a terrace and a balcony overlooking the kart track, so parents can eat while watching. The menu includes homemade pizzas and bitoques (a steak with egg and chips) every day, and family menus can be booked. There are also green areas set aside for picnics. The games room is indoors near the restaurant and changing rooms, a useful fallback if it rains.

Opening hours are the weak spot. When checked, the website only showed special August hours of 10:00 to midnight every day. For the rest of the year, and for anything outside summer, phone ahead. Several activities (the inflatable out of season, the tree-top course, paintball) need a booking or a minimum group size, so a single family turning up on a winter Saturday may find less running than in August.

Birthday parties are offered from age six, for a minimum of ten children.

Funpark is close to the Serra de Aire caves. Grutas de Mira de Aire and Grutas da Moeda are both nearby for a cooler, calmer half-day, and the dinosaur footprints at Serra de Aire are a short drive away.
