Piscina Municipal de Corroios

The Piscina Municipal de Corroios is one of three indoor pools owned and run by Seixal council, with the pools at Amora and Aldeia de Paio Pires. It’s on Avenida Rui Grácio in Santa Marta do Pinhal, in the parish of Corroios.

It’s a working sports pool with no slides or play features, built for lessons and lane swimming, with a 400-seat stand. For families, the good points are a paddling pool for the smallest, a changing room set aside for children with their parents, and a long free-swim timetable that includes both weekend mornings.

The council lists:

• A 25-metre pool, 16 metres wide, with six lanes. That’s wider than the 12.5-metre pools at Amora and Aldeia de Paio Pires, which leaves more room when lanes are shared.
• A paddling pool (chapinheiro) for small children. The council doesn’t publish its size or depth; the sister pool at Amora has a similar pool 45 to 60 centimetres deep.

The building has two floors: plant rooms below, and on the ground floor the pool, changing rooms and toilets, the 400-seat stand, a staff room, a first-aid room and a waiting room. There are two sets of changing rooms for men and women and a third for children with their parents or carers. A bar is listed but was marked as temporarily unavailable when we checked.

The timetable linked on the council page when we checked was for the 2025/26 season (published in January 2026), so times may shift for 2026/27. On that timetable, free swimming for over-6s ran:

• Weekdays: sessions from 7:55 in the morning, then roughly every 40 minutes through the day to 21:20. Most sessions have 9 to 18 places; the midday and 13:00 sessions have up to 45.
• Saturday: from 8:45, with the biggest sessions (36 places each) at 13:10, 14:00 and 14:40, and smaller ones through the afternoon to 17:40.
• Sunday: from 8:45 to about 12:30, when a 36-place session ends the week.

Places are limited per session (vagas), so ask at reception how to book at busy times.

Corroios uses Seixal council’s 2026 price list, the same as the other municipal pools:

Swimmers are covered by the pool’s personal-accident insurance.

On the 2025/26 timetable:

• Babies (6 to 35 months) had classes on Saturday and Sunday mornings, split into younger and older groups, with a few Saturday afternoon sessions.
• Water confidence for ages 3 to 5 (adaptação ao meio aquático) ran on weekday afternoons from 15:40 to 19:10 and on weekend mornings.
• Ages 6 to 12 start with water confidence, then move through swimming levels 1, 2 and 3, with classes on weekday afternoons and weekend mornings.
• Adapted swimming for children with disabilities ran on weekday and Saturday sessions for over-6s.

For parents, the pool also runs Hidrográvidas, aqua classes for pregnant women, on weekday lunchtimes.

From the pool’s published rules:

• A lycra swimsuit, a swim cap and flip-flops are compulsory to go on the pool deck.
• No jewellery, objects or make-up in the water.
• Walk through the footbath and shower before getting in.
• No food in the changing rooms or on the pool deck.
• You can go in only 10 minutes before your session.
• Children aged 3 to 8 go into the changing room with one adult only. From 10, children change on their own.

The pool can close for works, staff training, sports events and public holidays, and it closes for the whole of August.

Children who like engines can try BA Motopark in Seixal, and across the municipal boundary in Almada, Cristo Rei has a lift up to a viewing platform over the Tagus.

Is there a baby pool at Corroios?

There’s a paddling pool (chapinheiro) alongside the main 25-metre pool. Its depth isn’t published, so ask at reception.

From what age can children use free swimming?

The free-swim timetable lists sessions for over-6s. Younger children swim in baby classes (from 6 months) and water-confidence classes (from 3).

How much is a swim?

€2.34 for a 6 to 12-year-old Seixal resident and €3.08 for over-13s on the 2026 price list, after registration.

Do we need swim caps?

Yes. A swim cap, a lycra swimsuit and flip-flops are compulsory for everyone on the pool deck.

Is the Corroios pool open in August?

No. It closes for the whole month.
