Electric Karting Albufeira Marina

Electric Karting Albufeira is a go-kart track built into level -2 of the underground car park at Albufeira Marina. Earlier listings called it Hot Wheels Karting; the old contact address on the website still carries that name. It is indoors and the karts are all electric, which the venue sells as lightning fast.

The track is 400 metres long. Races are timed, and the fastest laps go up on a Top Ten board, which the venue calls its wall of fame. For a teenager, that board is the reason to go back for a second race.

This is not a place for young children. The minimum age is 12 and the minimum height is 1.5 m, and both must be met. Many 12-year-olds are shorter than that, so check before you promise a race.

Drivers aged 12 to 15 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver for them, and the venue says they may race at a regulated (limited) speed. Everyone signs a standard waiver form before driving; if you don’t sign, you can’t race.

No experience is needed. Every driver gets a briefing on track safety, the rules, what the flags mean and how the karts work, and the marshals on track have the final say. Staff can refuse anyone they think is a risk, and the terms say anyone behaving badly is asked to leave without a refund.

Up to six drivers race at a time, according to the home page, though the FAQ says up to seven. Unless you book privately, your teenager may be racing strangers.

When checked in September 2026, the booking form offered 10 minutes for €20 per person and 15 minutes for €25 per person.

• For one or two drivers, you don’t need to book. The venue asks you to arrive before 14:00 and says it will get you racing as soon as possible; after 14:00, phone to check availability.
• For three or more, send a reservation request through the website. Advance bookings need a deposit, deposits are non-refundable, and you must check in 15 minutes before your slot. If you arrive late without warning, the booking is cancelled.

A pack of gold, silver and bronze medals costs €20 and is meant for podium photos in the venue’s podium room. Ask for it when you book. The venue also takes group, corporate and private-hire bookings.

The venue provides helmets and hairnets. Drivers must wear trainers or other closed shoes: no flip-flops, sandals, open toes, platforms or heels. No beachwear is allowed, and customers who are not properly dressed are turned away, so don’t come straight from the sand in swimwear. Long hair has to be tied up and tucked in, and loose clothes and scarves are not allowed. Glasses are fine under the helmet.

You can’t bring your own food and drink in without permission.

Because the track is underground, it runs in any weather. That makes it a useful escape on one of the rare wet Algarve days, or in the middle of a very hot afternoon. Opening hours are 11:00 to 18:00 from Monday to Thursday and 11:00 to 19:00 from Friday to Sunday, with the last race 30 minutes before closing.

The venue is in the marina car park, so you can park in the same building. The website doesn’t say what parking costs.

Younger siblings can’t drive at all here. If you have a mix of ages, the Algarve karting circuit at Portimão has two-seater karts for children from four with an adult, and mini karts for children between 1.35 and 1.55 m tall.

Younger siblings who are too small to drive can have their own adventure on the Santa Bernarda pirate ship, which sails from Portimão. Zoomarine is a short drive inland at Guia, and Sand City near Lagoa has giant sand sculptures for a calmer afternoon.

What is the minimum age for karting in Albufeira Marina?

Twelve, and drivers must also be at least 1.5 m tall. Under-16s need a parent or guardian to sign for them.

Do we need to book?

Not for one or two drivers arriving before 14:00. Groups of three or more should book ahead and pay a deposit.

How much does it cost?

Can my younger child drive with me?

No. The website lists no two-seater karts, and every driver must be at least 12 and 1.5 m tall.

Is it open when it rains?
