King Park

King Park is a new indoor activity park in Batalha, the town best known for its monastery, about ten minutes south of Leiria. It opened on 20 August 2026 in a building that until then was only a bowling alley. The owners spent between €400,000 and €500,000 turning it into a space of about 2,000 square metres, and the bowling lanes are now one part of a bigger complex.

The idea, as co-owner Daniel Palhais told the Diário de Leiria, is that a family can spend several hours in one place: start on the trampolines or the climbing wall, move on to bowling, stop for lunch and go back to the activities. He also said he wanted people to stop thinking of it as “just bowling”.

The activity zone has:

• Trampolines for free jumping.
• A climbing wall.
• A ninja course, the obstacle-style run of swings, hanging holds and balance sections.
• Slides.
• The SkyRider, a suspended course hung about nine metres above the floor. The owner calls it a different concept that, as far as he knows, only exists elsewhere in Lisbon and Porto. Of everything in the building, this is what older children are most likely to ask about.

Next to the activity zone are the original bowling lanes, billiard tables and arcade machines, which suit teenagers and adults. The new area can take about 70 to 80 people an hour.

King Park’s own posts in September 2026 invited children to hunt for its mascot around the building and take a photo with it, which gives younger visitors something to look for between turns.

The co-owner says the activities are for everyone from five years old, “even the grandad of 80 or 90”. That makes it a place where parents can join in rather than just watch. The minimum age of five rules it out for toddlers, and nothing published suggests a separate area for under-fives, so if you have a younger sibling in tow, expect them to be watching from the side.

• Five to seven: trampolines, slides and the easier parts of the ninja course.
• Eight to twelve: the whole activity zone, including the climbing wall and the SkyRider.
• Teenagers: the SkyRider and ninja course, then bowling and billiards.

King Park has monitors on the activity floor at all times. The owner told the Diário de Leiria that children can stay in the activity zone with the monitors while the adults go bowling, play billiards or use the arcade machines in the same building. That is supervision while you stay on site, not a drop-off service, so plan on being in the building.

When it opened, an hour in the activity zone cost €10 per person on weekdays and €12 at weekends. In September 2026 King Park advertised a back-to-school offer of one hour of jumping plus bowling for €10, valid Monday to Thursday. Offers like this change, so ask when you book.

Non-slip socks are compulsory on the equipment. You can bring your own pair; you don’t have to buy them at King Park.

Bookings are taken at the venue or through the contacts on King Park’s social media pages. When it opened, a website with online booking was still being built. King Park announced new opening hours in mid-September 2026, so check the current times before making a special trip.

There’s a food counter with smash burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings and toasties, and the park has a partnership with a pizzeria nearby. The whole building is air-conditioned, which matters in a Leiria-district summer.

Birthday parties use their own packages, with reserved party rooms, rather than the hourly price.

• It’s new. Prices, hours and booking arrangements were still settling in the first weeks, so a quick message before you go saves a wasted drive.
• Hourly pricing adds up with several children. An hour is plenty for most five-year-olds; older children may want two.
• There’s no toddler area in the published descriptions.
• Children who don’t like heights can skip the SkyRider and still have plenty to do.

King Park works well as the rainy-day half of a day in the Batalha and Fátima area. The Grutas da Moeda and the Grutas de Mira de Aire are show caves within a short drive. For more speed and engines, Funpark near Fátima has kids’ electric quads and karting. In Leiria, the Parque do Avião is a riverside park with an old military transport plane on the grass and a playground beside it, and the Parque Radical de Leiria is a free place to skate or scoot.

How old do children have to be for King Park?

Five and over, according to the co-owner. There is no upper age limit, and adults can use the activities too.

How much does King Park cost?

When it opened in August 2026, the activity zone cost €10 per person per hour on weekdays and €12 at weekends. Birthday parties are priced separately.

Do you need special socks?

Yes. Non-slip socks are compulsory, but you can bring your own.

Can I leave my child there?

No drop-off service has been announced. Monitors are always on the activity floor, and children can stay in the activity zone while adults use the bowling or billiards in the same building.

Is there food?

Yes. There’s a snack menu with burgers, hot dogs, chicken wings and toasties, and a tie-up with a nearby pizzeria.
