Parque Urbano de Mora

Mora is a small town in the Alentejo, best known to families for the Fluviário de Mora, the freshwater aquarium out in the countryside at the Gameiro ecological park. In the town itself, the Parque Urbano de Mora is the place to let children run. The council built it to rehabilitate the area around the Núcleo Regional do Megalitismo, and it links the Museu Interativo do Megalitismo de Mora (an interactive museum about the region’s prehistoric standing stones), the municipal auditorium, the exhibition pavilion and the fairground. The council describes it as a green space for everyone, with play and sports equipment.

It’s a modest park, not a destination on its own. Its value is as a free, easy stop before or after one of Mora’s two museums.

The Parque Urbano has a children’s playground. In June 2026 the Câmara Municipal (town council) checked and repaired its equipment to improve safety and make it more comfortable to use. At the same time the council was replacing the ground surfacing in every playground in the municipality, to make them safer and harder-wearing. The council has not published a list of the equipment.

The park also has a small skate park for the town’s young people. In September 2026 the council moved it to a different part of the Parque Urbano, which it considers better suited to skating. The new spot has shade and several benches, so riders can rest and parents can sit and watch out of the sun.

After the move, the skate park was inspected on 9 September 2026 by the Laboratório Industrial da Qualidade, an independent inspection body. The certificate says it meets the legal requirements and the technical and safety standards, and it is valid until 9 September 2029. The council has not published a list of the ramps. The old site is being kept free for temporary events.

• The town’s older Jardim Público, laid out in 1932, is a separate garden with a lake, a playground, a bar, toilets, a games pitch and a stage, if you need facilities.
• There’s no published helmet rule at the skate park. A helmet and pads are sensible for children.

The Fluviário de Mora is the main family attraction in the area, and a joint ticket covers both the aquarium and the Megalithism Museum next to this park. For more standing stones, the Cromeleque dos Almendres near Évora is a large prehistoric stone circle you can walk among.

Is there a skate park in Mora?
