Skatepark do Cercal do Alentejo

Cercal do Alentejo is an inland village in the Santiago do Cacém municipality, and its skatepark is new. The Junta de Freguesia (parish council) started the project, the Câmara Municipal de Santiago do Cacém helped pay for it, and A-Park built it in concrete. The parish council invited everyone to the opening in April 2025.

The park is next to the local school and sports facilities on the Estrada de Colos. It’s small, and that’s its strength for young learners: there are only a handful of obstacles, and it’s easy to see your child from anywhere in it.

The Trucks and Fins directory lists six concrete obstacles:

• a quarter pipe, a curved ramp to ride up and come back down
• a ledge, a low concrete edge for sliding along
• a bank, a flat slope
• a manual pad, a low platform for balancing on two wheels
• a flat rail
• a curb

Skateboard School Alentejo, which teaches here every week, describes it as a small park that is good for learning and practising a new trick again and again. For a beginner, that’s exactly what’s needed. The bank and curb are the easiest places to start after getting comfortable rolling on the flat. The quarter pipe and flat rail are for children who can already ride and turn with control.

Skateboard School Alentejo is a small school based in Vila Nova de Milfontes. In autumn 2026 it ran an eight-week group course at Cercal on Thursdays, with two sessions each afternoon: 16:30 to 18:00 and 18:00 to 19:30, from mid September to the end of October. The course cost €90 for the eight 1.5-hour lessons, including boards and protective gear.

The group courses are for children aged 6 and over. Groups are limited to six to eight children and are organised by level, with separate sessions for over-12s. Each session starts with a short explanation and a warm-up, and includes team games and how to wear protective gear properly. Progress is tracked in a “skateboard passport” with levels to work through. If it rains, the session moves to the following week, so children still get all eight. The school also gives private lessons on request.

The autumn course finished with a Go Skateboarding Day at Santo André on 7 November 2026, bringing together the school’s skaters from the Alentejo and Algarve.

• The skatepark is free and open to the public.
• We could not confirm toilets, drinking water, shade or lighting from the sources we checked. Bring water, especially in summer.
• There is no published helmet rule. A helmet, wrist guards and knee pads are sensible for children on concrete.
• Because it’s small, it suits beginners and younger children more than experienced teenagers looking for variety.

For a bigger park, the concrete Santo André Skate Plaza and the Skate Parque de Sines are also in the area. On a hot day, the beach at Praia das Furnas in Vila Nova de Milfontes is a good way to cool down, and A Choupana there is an easy family lunch.

Is the Cercal do Alentejo skatepark free?
