O Passo

O Passo is a café, coworking space and small event venue on Rua Costa Pinto, in the old centre of Paço de Arcos in Oeiras, just west of Lisbon. It was set up by a local family, Diana Gomes and Pedro Pedras, who told New in Oeiras in 2023 that working from home with two babies had shown them what parents needed: somewhere to have a coffee or work while the children play nearby.

So children get a room of their own. O Passo created it in partnership with TOCA, a brand of toys and play equipment for child development, and the room doubles as a TOCA showroom. When it opened, Diana described a sensory play area for babies and a climbing wall and wall bars for older children, among other things. The website calls it a dedicated kids’ area where children can play safely while parents work in the coworking space or relax in the café.

The café is on the ground floor with the play room, and the coworking desks are upstairs, according to the opening report.

The café menu has a short section headed “Kids approved”. When checked in September 2026:

• mini pancakes: €5
• babyccino (frothy milk in a small cup): €1.75
• soup: €2.80

The main menu is simple café food that suits children too. Four pancakes with three toppings cost €9.50. Plain waffles or crêpes were €4.80, €5.50 with Nutella, with a scoop of ice cream for €1.50 more. Ham and cheese toasties started at €3.25, and there were tuna and chicken toasties and avocado toast. A small fresh orange juice was €2.60. Sweet things included apple crumble, cheesecake, brownie and red velvet cake.

For adults, brunch is served every day from 08:00 to 20:00 at €19.50, with orange juice, a hot drink, yoghurt and granola, a crêpe with a topping, and toast or egg and avocado toast. On weekdays there is an €18 lunch menu. Plant milk costs €1 extra, and the menu asks you to talk to the team about ingredients and allergies.

Upstairs, the coworking space has flexible desks and memberships. A daily coworking pass is €28 and includes a desk, Wi-Fi, breakfast, lunch, a snack and two coffees. O Passo’s own blog has a guide to working remotely with a baby, which gives a sense of who the space is for.

O Passo hires out its space for children’s birthdays and family celebrations, for up to 80 people standing or 55 seated. A four-hour booking includes the children’s area with TOCA, a changing table, air conditioning, a speaker, a projector and a team member on site. When checked, it cost €250 on weekdays, €270 on weekend and holiday mornings until 13:30 and €290 on weekend and holiday afternoons after 15:00, with extra hours at €85. Add-ons included face painting from €50 an hour, a bouncy castle for €75 and a sweet table from €135.

When it opened in 2023, O Passo also ran a weekly story hour for small children on Wednesdays at 18:00 and planned monthly parent-and-baby yoga. Ask whether these still run.

The website does not say whether anyone supervises the kids’ room or whether it costs extra, so assume you stay with your child and check at the counter. New in Oeiras reported that O Passo is dog-friendly.

Paço de Arcos station on the Cascais line is a short walk away, and the café says to allow extra time to find parking in the surrounding streets if you drive. The riverside is close, so a walk by the water fits well after brunch. Along the same stretch of coast are the beaches at Caxias and Santo Amaro de Oeiras, and the Piscina Oceânica de Oeiras, a big saltwater lido on the estuary.

Does O Passo have a play area?
