The playground is outdoors, next to the restaurant, and the official site describes it as spacious. The Quinta do Lago mini golf course is next door. KOKO’s web page also has a children’s activity sheet to download and print before you go.

The best-known extra is the Mini Pizzaiolo workshop. Children start at Q Farm, the resort’s farm, where they pick fresh ingredients for their pizza. Back at KOKO they knead the dough and add their toppings. Workshops run on set dates, and you register in advance; the dates are listed on the Quinta do Lago website. KOKO also hosts seasonal family events, such as a Halloween costume parade with face painting and a magic show, and it offers a children’s birthday package.

Nothing we found says staff look after children in the playground, so plan to watch from the terrace.

The food is Italian and Mediterranean. Breakfast brings coffee, smoothies, açaí bowls, cooked breakfasts and pancakes. Lunch and dinner cover salads, cheeses and antipasti, pizzas made to order, pasta, steak and rotisserie chicken, with Italian desserts to follow. There is a separate kids’ menu.

For allergies and diets, gluten-free pizza bases are available and there are vegetarian dishes. Vegan choices are more limited: a 2025 review counted three, pizza marinara at €12.50, rigatoni marinara at €16 and a panzanella salad at €17. Those prices give an idea of the level; this is resort pricing.

At the front, a takeaway counter sells coffee, juices and ice cream. The artisan gelateria makes its own gelato with classic and seasonal flavours, and the restaurant also does crêpes. KOKO roasts its own Q Coffee beans on site, which is the adults’ treat.

KOKO is open every day from 08:00 to 23:00. The kitchen serves from 08:00 to 22:00, so an early children’s tea at 17:00 or 18:00 is no problem, and the gelateria opens at 07:00. Breakfast and lunch are first come, first served. For dinner, workshops or parties, phone or email ahead. Weekends are the busiest time.

The building was fully refurbished in 2025 and is larger than before. Q Boutique, the resort’s clothes and beachwear shop, is next door.

KOKO is inside the Quinta do Lago resort, by Roundabout 4 next to the driving range, a short drive from Almancil. Most families arrive by car or taxi.

Praia de Faro is a long, lifeguarded sandy beach on the Ancão peninsula nearby. Inland, the rock salt mine at Loulé takes families deep underground, and in summer Aquashow at Quarteira has slides and a wave pool.

Does KOKO have a playground?
