A pump track at a sports hotel by the beach
The FeelViana Sport Hotel stands at Praia do Cabedelo in Viana do Castelo. Its Bike Center has a pump track that the hotel describes as an uneven track for bicycles, skateboards or scooters. It was built in 2017 by ProRide, a Portuguese company that builds pump tracks and bike parks, and it got a lot of attention on social media in the summer of 2026, when several Portuguese sites wrote about it as a little-known place to ride.
You don’t have to stay at the hotel to use it. The magazine NiT reported in August 2026 that visitors pay €5 and hotel guests ride free, and that bikes can be hired from €10. Opening hours aren’t published, so contact the Bike Center before you make the trip.

What children do on a pump track
A pump track is a closed loop of rolling bumps and banked corners. Riders don’t pedal or push much. They press down on the back of each bump and lean into the corners, and that movement carries them round faster and faster. NiT describes the FeelViana track as having tight curves and banked bends, designed so that riders build speed with their body movement and balance, and says it takes mountain bikes, BMX and skateboards.
It’s a good way to build bike handling. A child who can already ride confidently on the flat will usually be doing slow laps within minutes, and getting round without pedalling after a few more. Family Tips, which also wrote about the track in August 2026, says it is aimed at all ages and levels, from children to adults and from beginners to more experienced riders.

Hiring a bike and the Bike Center
The Bike Center rents Scott bikes for different kinds of riding, including mountain, enduro, gravel and road bikes, and has bike parking, a repair workshop, a shop and a support van with a trailer for bike transport. It also runs guided and GPS rides in the area for older children and adults who want to go further.
Bike hire makes the pump track easy to try if you didn’t bring bikes on holiday. Ask when you book whether they have bikes and helmets in your children’s sizes, since the hotel doesn’t list children’s sizes online.

What each age gets out of it
Children of 4 to 7 who ride a pedal bike or scooter without help can manage slow laps, with a parent walking alongside. Children of 8 to 12 are the age most likely to get properly hooked, linking the bumps and corners and chasing faster laps. Teenagers on BMX or mountain bikes can use the track for jumps and speed. It’s less suited to toddlers, unless the track is empty and they’re on a balance bike with you right beside them.

Other things at FeelViana
The hotel is set up for outdoor sport. Its Water Center teaches kitesurfing, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and windsurfing, and there is a Wake Park, where riders are pulled across the water by a cable. It also has a Kids Club for ages 4 to 12, with games, crafts and play led by staff, and babysitting for under-4s, booked in advance by email. The Kids Club page presents it as a hotel service and doesn’t say whether day visitors can use it, so ask if you’re interested.

Safety and practical tips
Helmets are sensible on any pump track, along with gloves and knee pads for beginners. Teach children to ride in the same direction as everyone else and to wait for a gap before joining the loop. The track is outdoors by the beach, so it will be hot and bright in summer: bring water and sun cream.

Making a day of it
The hotel is right on Praia do Cabedelo, so the pump track fits easily into a beach day. In the city, the Museu Fábrica do Chocolate is a treat for sweet-toothed children. Further north on the River Minho, the Castelinho water park and Aquamuseu in Vila Nova de Cerveira has free water play in summer, and the free Valença skate park and pump track is another loop to ride.
